Summary/Objective
The heavy haul driver plays a critical role in the transportation of heavy machinery and equipment, ensuring safe and efficient delivery to various job sites while adhering to all regulations and safety standards.
Requirements/Responsibilities
Heavy Haul Drivers are responsible for safely transporting oversized and heavy loads through the following essential duties:
Transportation - Drive and operate heavy haul trucks to transport equipment and machinery to various locations; ensure secure loading and unloading of cargo.
Safety Compliance - Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations for heavy haul transport; perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety.
Route Planning - Plan and follow the most efficient and safe routes for transporting oversized loads; communicate with dispatchers and site teams to coordinate deliveries.
Maintenance - Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs on trucks; report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to supervisors.
Documentation - Maintain accurate records of deliveries, inspections, and maintenance; complete necessary paperwork for regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL with endorsements for heavy haul transportation.
- (Preferred) Experience with heavy haul driving and oversized load transport.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and work well in a team.
- (Preferred) Previous experience in the construction or heavy machinery industry.
- Willing to be on-call evening, nights, and weekends for operations at customer's job sites.
- Must be able to travel on short notice and be gone overnight.
- Must communicate effectively and professionally with customers, supervisors, and other employees.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to perform tasks independently without direct supervision.
- Computer literate with the ability to process information.
- Have a clean driving record and can drive a company service truck.
