Summary/Objective
The crane operator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our services by efficiently operating, maintaining, and inspecting cranes as required, reporting on defects and deficiencies, and ensuring safe and precise lifting operations.
Requirements/Responsibilities
Crane Operators play a critical role in safely and efficiently operating cranes to lift, move, and position materials. The following duties are essential for achieving this objective:
Safety Inspections - Conduct daily safety checks of cranes and rigging equipment; perform pre-operational inspections, safety checks, and load chart calculations.
Crane Operation - Set up and operate cranes to lift, move, and position materials according to a plan or schedule; communicate with site teams to determine the best placement for lifts and ensure crane stability.
Maintenance and Repairs - Maintain cranes by performing minor repairs and troubleshooting issues; report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to supervisors.
Regulatory Compliance - Complete worksite and regulatory documentation as required; ensure compliance with safety regulations and never override safety alarms or devices.
Coordination - Work with an Oiler to ensure site safety during operations; keep current records of times during job progression, collect signatures as needed; and proactively work with dispatch to plan out subsequent work or other opportunities.
Qualifications
- (Required) Possess nationally accredited certifications such as NCCCO, NCCER, CIC, or OECP.
- (Preferred) Experience with hydraulic cranes and operating other heavy equipment.
- Familiarity with construction sites and the ability to work in noisy, potentially hazardous environments.
- Good spatial awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and work well in a team.
- (Preferred) Three years of direct experience in crane operations and maintenance.
- Must have a strong background in crane safety and operational procedures.
- Willing to be on-call evening, nights, and weekends for crane operations at customer's job sites.
- Must be able to travel on short notice and be gone overnight.
- Must communicate effectively and professionally with customers, supervisors, and other employees.
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to perform tasks independently without direct supervision.
- Computer literate with the ability to process information.
- Have a valid CDL, clean driving record, and can drive a company service truck.
