Summary/Objective

The yard hand plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our services by facilitating operations, logistically. This position calls for an individuals that can work independently to load and unload equipment and materials, maintain the facilities, distribute supplies, and assist the team in any way possible.

Requirements/Responsibilities

The following duties are essential for achieving this objective:

Communication - Work with Dispatch to coordinate the arrival and departure of equipment and materials, assist leadership in fulfilling readiness objectives, and inform others of yard conditions and preparedness.

Loading/Unloading - Load and unload heavy equipment like forklifts and their associated components, customer-owned items like mechanical units, and hazmat; this includes working with drivers to position loads properly, collecting and validating bills of lading and recording details of a load; and, preparing loadouts in advance of departures by the team.

Availability - On occasion, travel to other yards, and facilities to facilitate loading and unloading, maintain your assigned vehicle and always have it ready to work.

Qualifications

  • Must have a strong background in logistics, scheduling, and material handling operations
  • Some data entry skills and a willingness to learn and master the organizations inventory systems
  • Must communicate effectively and professionally with drivers, supervisors, and other employees.
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to perform tasks independently without direct supervision.
  • Computer literate with the ability to process information.
  • Willing to complete a HAZMAT handling course
